Song of the Day: DJay - Mona Lisa

Just like you've never heard of the Freshmen, you've probably never heard of Mona Lisa. These girls' career didn't kick off in the late '90s (when Urban/R&B music was popular), but they take influence from both that time period and today's dance music scene. Influences from both of these musical directions are evident in "DJay", and combine to make a song that deserves to be more popular than it ever will be.

Freaky Friday: Rebecca Black's 2nd Single Bombs - And I Mean, BOMBS!

Remember when Rebecca Black released "My Moment", fresh off the heels of the best song of the year so far (note sarcasm), "Friday"? Well, it seems like no one does anymore. Believe it or not, this was released less than a week ago, and I'm happy to say I haven't heard anybody talk about Rebecca since then. Why? This song sucks, but isn't so horribly fantastic that it becomes as iconic as "Friday". You don't need to read on, because I'm not going to force you to watch the video. Just a heads up, though - Rebecca Black's finally faded!

Song of the Day: Hello There - The Freshmen

I can guarantee that you've never heard of the Freshmen before. However, you should, as the hip-hop/pop group delivers an amazing song in "Hello There". Why? Read on to hear the song!

Project: Mobius' Favorite Songs: Penguin - Avicii

Leona Lewis' "Collide" has been thrown a lot of crap over the past couple of weeks, mainly due to the fact that she sampled Avicii's "Penguin" on the track without his permission. What do I think? Honestly, I don't care - if it weren't for things like this happening, these artists would never earn their chance in the limelight. Avicii (otherwise known as Tim Berg) deserves to be recognized as a great music producer, which is why I'm showcasing his masterpiece here this week.

This Week's Youtube: Rain Over Me - Pitbull (feat. Marc Anthony)

"Rain Over Me" is the first English song from Marc Anthony since 2002. However, his voice is silky smooth on the track, which definitely pumps up the song. Also, Pitbull is looking to stay at the top of the charts after he spent his 1st week in the top spot on Billboard last month. Everything about this song screams hit. However, does the video?

The Project: Mobius Fab 50 - Week of July 25, 2011

Jennifer Lopez's "I'm Into You" (featuring Lil' Wayne) sneakily entered the Fab 50 two weeks ago. However, this week it becomes the first song to, in its third week, peak at #33 and move up 3 places. Little to say, that's a unique feat! However, is 3rd time the charm for Beyoncé, who desperately attempts to get her first top 10 from "4" on the Fab 50? Read on to find out!

SOTDay Bonus: Don't Stop the Party - The Black Eyed Peas

"Don't Stop the Party" was released as a single quite a while ago. I neglected doing a review for the song, since I was pretty sure that it wouldn't become popular. However, it's now starting its creep up the charts, and it's become apparent that "Don't Stop the Party" deserves a fair review. But will it be a good one? Read on to find out!

Song of the Day: Sunset in July - 311

All of the major rock releases have since dropped from stardom this week in American sales, so this will bring an abrupt end to rock week. However, it's not all bad; this "Woodstock rock" song by 90's college band 311 is very entertaining, and a great listen for anyone who enjoys rock, alternative or pop music.

Freaky Friday: Lady Gaga's Next Single Is... Yoü and I?

See that little speck in the picture above? That's Lady Gaga, shooting her next video in Nebraska. (You can click the picture to enlarge it, if you don't believe me!) This, along with other clues, hints that Gaga's next top 10 song (if not #1) will be "Yoü and I". Read on for all of the major signs!

Song of the Day: Up All Night - Blink-182

The last album from Blink-182 came out in 2003. Can you believe that? I wouldn't, except for the fact that they played a concert in my small town 2 years ago (for some odd reason, it was where the college would play hockey, but they removed the ice). Anyways, they're back with "Up All Night", and to the delight of someone who played "I Miss You" nonstop, the song isn't as pitiful as I thought it would be!

Project: Mobius' Favorite Songs: With Arms Wide Open - Creed

This week is rock week on my site. Why? Many big rock releases have been released in the past couple of the weeks, and I currently don't have any rock songs on the Fab 50 after the departure of Seether's "Country Song"! With that being said, I'll start rock week off with my favorite song from one of my favorite bands in Creed, "With Arms Wide Open". Read on to listen!

Note: The term "rock" is used loosely above. This blog isn't turning into a rock blog before your eyes; I'll still be talking about top 40 music!

This Week's Youtube: Advice - Christina Grimmie

Christina Grimmie's faded from the mainstream music scene after her album "Find Me" was released. However, she's attempting to make a comeback by releasing the music video for "Advice", her first ever single. Did the video hit big?

The Project: Mobius Fab 50 - Week of July 18, 2011

Adele's album 21 has been the biggest hit worldwide so far this year, so it makes sense that more than one of her songs would be featured on the Project: Mobius Fab 50. "Set Fire to the Rain" makes its debut on the chart this week, premiering at #42. There's also a change at the top of the chart this week. Who makes the jump to 1st?

Platinum Hit: Mid-Season Recap

Earlier this year, I made a Platinum Hit prediction guide. Today I'll recap you on how well I've done so far, as well as what's happened so far this season, as I break down how contestants 6-12 fared and reevaluate my guide for the final episodes!

Song of the Day: Smile - Avril Lavigne

Avril Lavigne has, believe it or not, only had 1 career #1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 (that being "Girlfriend" in 2007). She has been close to the top many times, including 4 top 10 hits from 2004 or earlier, but has only hit the high mark once. However, since "Girlfriend", Avril hasn't even been able to produce another top 10 song. Is it possible that "Smile" could send her career back in the right direction?

SOTDay Update: Blackout - Breathe Carolina

"Blackout", off of Breathe Carolina's new album Hell Is What You Make It, is now free to download on iTunes! I would definitely suggest to everyone to get this song - I've played it dozens of times in the past few days, and it's still not gotten old. Also, it has a rock sound that hit music is lacking this summer. Get "Blackout" for free until the 19th!

Freaky Friday: Rebecca Black's Back!

Sadly enough, that's right! The "Friday" star (if that's what you want to call her) has announced the arrival of a highly-anticipated second song, "My Moment". It will be available on Rebecca's website on July 18th and everywhere else on the 19th. Want to see the cover art? Click the link below to the rest of the article!

Song of the Day: Skyscraper - Demi Lovato

Fresh out of rehab, Demi Lovato has just released her comeback single, "Skyscraper", which rocketed to the top of the iTunes charts as if it was sung by Lady Gaga. However, to be brutally honest, this song doesn't fill any void or feel satisfactory to me; read on for the explanation.

Project: Mobius' Favorite Songs: Take Over Control - Afrojack (Feat. Eva Simons)

As a new release, "Take Over Control" is just starting to get popular. However, this hit song by the man behind the beat of Pitbull's "Give Me Everything" has already become one of my favorites. Why? Read on to find out!

This Week's Youtube: In the Dark - Dev

The Cataracs' unappreciated star, Dev, has just released the music video for her new song. "In the Dark" is a sexy, catchy tune that's sure to perk your ears up. However, does the video do the same with your eyes?

The Project: Mobius Fab 50 - Week of July 11, 2011

"Tonight Tonight" hasn't gotten a good amount of popularity among the blogging community. Why? I can't understand, as the song quietly creeps up to 3rd this week on the Fab 50. Will it be able to challenge this week's #1 song in the future? And, for that matter, what is this week's #1 song?

SOTDay Bonus: "You Make Me Feel..." - Cobra Starship (Feat. Sabi)

Remember when "Good Girls Go Bad" went big last year, and Cobra Starship had their first big hit? It definitely seemed like Cobra Starship was destined to be another one-hit wonder band, never quite making it back to the top. However, they're back with "You Make Me Feel...", and it's strong enough to make Cobra Starship a two-hit wonder, at the very least.

Song of the Day: How We Roll - Loick Essien (Feat. Tanya Lacey)

Being the new kid on the block, this is the first time that I have reviewed a non-American release as my "Song of the Day". However, it looks like Loick Essien is going to have a big hit in the United Kingdom with "How We Roll", and it shouldn't go unnoticed by America - although it probably will. However, is this song good enough to ever make it in America? Continue reading to see!

Freaky Friday: Lady Gaga Announces an Announcment

Can you believe it? Lady Gaga uses her endless fanbase to announce that her next single will be announced soon. What will it be? Read on!

Song of the Day: Blackout - Breathe Carolina

With the absence of any major releases this week, I finally get the chance to review some less well-known songs. I've been able to predict such hits as "Tonight Tonight" and "Give Me Everything" in this fashion, so I have a shot here of picking another future popular song. The selection? "Blackout", a new single from rock/alternative band Breathe Carolina. Read on to listen to and read the review for "Blackout"!

Project: Mobius' Favorite Songs: Kickstarts - Example

Leading the rise of dance music in the UK is English rapper/DJ Example. Example just recently hit #1 in the UK with his hit single "Changed the Way You Kiss Me". However, before his first career #1, Example charted highly with this song, "Kickstarts". This is my favorite song by Example, and it should be enjoyed by any fan of pop or dance music!

This Week's Youtube: "Fight to Win" - Your Favorite Martian (feat. DeStorm)

Did you think I was finished talking about DeStorm? Well, I'm not! He has just been featured on music giant Your Favorite Martian's most recent mid-level video, appropriately named "Fight to Win". Candy rapping may be epic, but it's safe to say that "Fight to Win" is in a completely different category.

The Project: Mobius Fab 50 - Week of July 4, 2011

Today may be all about red, white and blue in America, but it's all about pink on this week's Fab 50. Nicki Minaj's "Super Bass" has finally been added to the list, due to partially ignorance to the song and partially my initial dislike of the piece. However, it's here now: but where on the list? Read the full article to find out!

Songs of the Month: June 2011

Note: This post also includes the top 10 songs this year, to today (YTD).

This month was filled with many huge releases. So many, in fact, that "Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall" only earns honorable mention from Coldplay. If this stunning song didn't make it, which ones did?

Song of the Day: Little Bad Girl - David Guetta (Feat. Taio Cruz & Ludacris)

Just when it seemed like "Where Them Girls At" would rock the music world, David Guetta does the unthinkable and releases "Little Bad Girl" just days after his most recent music video. Definitely not a good move for Guetta, but could it end up paying dividends in the future? The song is below!

Freaky Friday: The Right Person Wins on The Voice

Did anyone watch The Voice on Tuesday and Wednesday? If so, you were in for an incredibly over-hyped treat. Artists performed original songs, as well as songs with their coaches and idols. However, in the end, a winner was crowned: Javier Colon, an incredible talent with an intangible ability for slowing down a notch and truly touching you. Read on for his original song, "Stitch by Stitch"!

Song of the Day: Pretty Girls - Iyaz (Feat. Travie McCoy)

Oh, Iyaz... How we loved you when the perfect iPod song, "Replay", came out. And how we hated when your single "Solo" never lived up to the hype we generated. What happened, Iyaz? It's been more than a year since you hit us with your last single in the US. Luckily, you've released a new hit single with Travie McCoy in "Pretty Girls". Does it help make up for all the time we've waited for your release? Find out below!
