Song of the Day: Good Feeling - Flo Rida

It's been a little while since we've heard a new Flo Rida-made single, hasn't it? The last one ("Who Dat Girl"; I won't count "Turn Around Pt. 2", since it was from Hangover 2) was released all the way back in January, and didn't amount to much. However, does this song have the potential to become a hit, unlike its predecessor? Read on for the review - and something unexpected!

First off, let me start be saying this: Avicii's really getting ripped off these days, isn't he? First, Leona Lewis stole his beat from "Penguin/Fade Into Darkness" and turned the song into "Collide". Now, Flo Rida has taken elements from Avicii's "Levels" (including Etta James' own remixed voice) and turned the song into "Good Feeling"! However, I must say that I'm not quite upset as I was last time, as Flo Rida actually added some rythmic elements of his own into the song. Note: I'm going to put up the video for "Levels" at the end of my post.

Now, onto the review! I'll be the first one to admit that I like to listen to a nice club song every once in a while. However, in order for a club song to be good, the song needs to have a good beat as a base. The normal beat for "Good Feeling", although rather fun, doesn't carry with it any emotion or strength, therefore giving the song less shelf life. However, the digital dubstep (although I'm not sure it's physical enough to be called that) used for part of the bridge is absolutely outstanding, and almost carries the song by itself.

Sadly enough, it doesn't. There are certain elements of this song that I like (such as the digital dub and Etta James' vocals), but they don't change the fact that this song should be thrown into the proverbial trash.

Rating: 3/5

  1. I'm not too fond of this either. Poor Avicii!

  2. I know. At least he's getting some well-deserved publicity, though...
