The Project: Mobius Fab 50 - Week of September 26, 2011

You know, a solid single from Rihanna has been highly anticipated by me, despite the fact that she releases music as fast as a jackrabbit. Her last 3 singles have all been flops, so I was pretty excited to hear her new song, "We Found Love", from her upcoming album. However, was the new song's recent success enough for me to put it on the top of the Fab 50? You'll have to read the rest of the post to find out!

Someone who doesn't follow my chart would say that many of the songs got shaken up. However, I rather would believe that this is a funneling week on my chart, in which I work to get rid of all the songs I'm unsatisfied with. With that being said, expect some high-charting releases in the next couple of weeks, including "We Found Love" landing at #1!

At the Top
  • Rihanna and Calvin Harris' "We Found Love" makes a stunning debut at #1, forcing the ever-charging "Moves Like Jagger" to be stuck in a 2nd-place rut, very much like on the UK charts.
  • Foster the People's "Pumped Up Kicks" makes a minor drop to 3rd, with "You and I" staying put at #4. Bad Meets Evil's "Lighters" falls to the bottom of the top 5.

  • Up 11: "Without You" - David Guetta & Usher [#25 to #14]
  • Up 5: "Do You?" - iFFY the Bad Man [#49 to #44]

  1. Very surprised that "We Found Love" charged in at #1! I find that to be so weird given that not many people like it fans and critics! But I think the song is pretty decent, it just follows her usual format and plus it is TOO SOON for NEW music from her!

  2. I'd agree that it's too soon for Rihanna to come out with a new song - mainly because of the fact that "Cheers (Drink to That)" is/was still rising on the charts. However, when we get a new song like this, why complain? It's a good song that sounds different from anything Rihanna's done before (except for possibly "Disturbia"), because it's being produced by Calvin Harris.

And, to be honest, I never really cared for "Cheers", anyways. Although it doesn't hold as much of a soul-pop vibe that Rihanna normally has (which is why many of her fans are criticizing it), "We Found Love" is a really good song, and it will definitely pick up in America. After all, how long did it take for "Moves Like Jagger" to catch on?
