You've seen The Voice, right? Since American Idol's lost Simon Cowell and turned country, The Voice has become one of the most popular music talent shows. Much of its success is attributed to the coaches (Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Cee-Lo Green and Christina Aguilera), who are all extremely good artists in their own right. Proof of this comes from Adam Levine and Christina Aguilera's song "Moves Like Jagger", which is set to premiere on The Voice later tonight.
The song opens with a sweet, up-tempo whistling piece, which I consider to be the part of the song which makes it a hit. It translates into an extremely catchy chorus, which instantly connects to the listener. The song is written by Maroon 5 and Adam Levine accounts for more than 80% of the vocals in the song. However, Christina Aguilera sings the third and last verse, as well as adding backing voices in the final chorus. Aguilera's voice provides a real throwback to some of her earlier works, and sounds great - although it doesn't fit incredibly well with Maroon 5's sound.
All in all, there is nothing truly special about this song. That being said, it's a solid head-bobber that's going to be bought up like mad after tonight's performance on The Voice.

I wasn't wowed by it. Are you watching this show? I have a friend at work who keeps telling me I need to watch it, but I'm not watching TV this summer.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm watching "The Voice". Some artists are really good (such as Javier Colon). For the most part, however, the show's generated by hype. Also, the coaches have a vote, but they're too positive to the contestants and give them all equal values.
